Features & Product Details
TeraFlex started development of the CRD60 axles in 2002, which would later become the industry standard in axle development. These axles have unique features such as a rotated cover line, smooth high clearance surfaces, integrated suspension mounting points, along with oversized bearings and increased oil flow which has allowed this design to become one of the more assimilated designs embraced by the off-road industry.
The CRD60 has been designed with an integrated top mounting pad that has been reinforced for 4-link suspension. The CRD60 also has an exclusive Constant Radius Design that provides higher ground clearance that is unaffected by pinion angle adjustments. Increased rib gussets are implemented in the design to strengthen the housing to eliminate deflection under high load, and heavy duty bearing caps also help to increase rigidity through the bearings and carrier which reduces ring and pinion distortion. The CRD60 has a built in skimmer that cuts the ring gear oil halo, and forces oil into the pinion bearings. The front pinion bearing socket has a renewable oil reservoir that replenishes while driving, and keeps a fresh reserve of oil that constantly. The housing itself hosts over 3 quarts of gear oil which ensures for proper lubrication under operation for extended highway driving. The oversized pinion bearing can handle the increased torque conditions from high load conditions.
The construction of the CRD60 includes a hand-built axle production process where the axle tubes are machined for precision interference fitment before being pressed into the housing. All 1/4" axle brackets are located in jig fixtures to ensure correct suspension mounting to maintain factory suspension geometry. These are then welded into place by certified in-house TeraFlex technicians. The preparation process before the final coating involves a special surface hardening media blasting to remove all oils and contaminants which are followed by a chemical etching process along with a premium UV protected triple-stage powder-coat to keep the axle protected against all weather conditions.
This particular rear axle will come with brakes.
