No brake bleeding or brake line modification needed
Larger 13.3" rotors for superior stopping performance (vs. 11.9" stock rotors)
Mill-balanced vented front rotors for maximum heat dissipation
Slotted rotors offer better gas dissipation than smooth rotors
Requires a minimum wheel diameter of 17”.
Affordable Upgrade
A must for 33-35" tires on your JK Wrangler/Unlimited. Upgraded oversized and heavier wheels/tire combos need increased braking performance. This simple bolt-on upgrade doesn’t require cutting welding or adapters, absolutely no brake line modification or brake bleeding. This kit allows the factory brake caliper and brake pads to be retained, while at the same time increasing the rotor diameter from 11.9 inch to 13.3 inch. The increased clamping distance from the rotor center results in greater braking leverage in order to allow stopping distance to be decreased substantially (larger rotor diameter = greater stopping power).
I had a unique opportunity to test this brake kit, as I own two Jeeps that are identical packages made in the same month. Both Jeeps tested were 2018 JKUR Recon package Wranglers, with one being stock with oem tires and 25,000 miles on the odometer. The second Jeep was lifted with 285/75r17 BFG KO2's, 50,000 miles on the clock and kitted out to @5700 pounds. The brakes tested were all factory pads with zero modifications to either prior to installing the front big rotor kit. I started by performing a series of three hail Mary brake tests from sixty to zero with the factory brakes and noted that on average the lifted JKUR took forty feet more to stop than the stock Wrangler. That's almost three car lengths! It was definitely time for an upgrade! With the initial data collected I proceeded to install the Teraflex Big rotor front slotted kit with my factory brake shoes. After less than an hour I had the Jeep back together and ready to break the rotors in following the supplied instructions. Once that task was accomplished I repeated the test on the same track in the same conditions. After compiling the data from three successful stops I noted that the new brake rotors shortened the stopping distance by forty four feet on average. That's right, four feet shorter distance then the stock Wrangler! I had expected improved stopping distance but I was blown away that my lifted and loaded JKU now stops in a shorter distance than my stock one. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this kit to anyone who is looking to improve the braking of their Jeep after installing bigger tires. For the safety it adds at this price point it really is a no brainer!
This easy to install kit makes my fully loaded JKUR with 34” tires stop 39’ shorter on average from 60-0. Im very happy with that kind of performance for the cost and ease of installation.
3in lift with 35’s. Easy install and look nice. Installed new pads at the same time. Rear rotors and pads are only a few months old. I don’t notice any difference in braking. Wish I had saved that money for something else.
I've added weight to my Jeep (bigger tires, winch, trailer in tow) and I have a tight budget (for other upgrades), so these rotors are the perfect solution. The quality is high and the install is easy. I have just finished breaking them in and while I have no metrics, I can confidently say they feel solid.
