For getting your plain, factory front bumper on your Jeep Wrangler JL or Jeep Gladiator winch ready, you need the Rock Hard 4x4
Winch Plate for Factory Steel Bumper. It is compatible with virtually all winch models currently on the market for these vehicles.
It is by far one of the most heavy duty winch plates out there and also conveniently features a fairlead mount. Winches are like
an insurance policy; you need to have one and hope you never have to use it! Rock Hard's factory steel bumper winch plates use
the strength of your Jeep's frame to provide the most affordable way to give you the peace of mind of self-recovery.
No Cutting, Welding, or Drilling Required
The Rock Hard 4x4 Winch Plate for Factory Steel Bumper features a single plate steel construction and compatibility with
all popular winch models for the Jeep Wrangler JL or Jeep Gladiator JT. Make this the ultimate way to get your factory
front bumper winch ready. Rock Hard's winch plate is compatible with everything from the common 8,000 lb. winch offered by most
manufacturers all the way up to the massive Warn Zeon! Installation is very simple with this winch plate. There is no drilling,
cutting, or welding required as all winch bolt patterns are already laser cut into our mounting plate.
Parts Included:
This winch plate was an easy installation, the whole start to finish time was 2 hours. The hardware that was supplied needed to be replaced with longer bolts, but were easy to find at the local auto parts store. This looks great installed!
I’d totally buy this plate again. I’ve seen reviews elsewhere complaining about the fit and I don’t see it. Only issue I had was the fair lead bolts were too short for the hawse fair lead I used. Other than that, everything lined up great and it’s a nice, 1/4 inch steel unit. I like how it bolts the fairlead section of the bumper and ties it into a structural unit, integrating the bumper, the plate and the frame horns.
Tips:: get two 7/16x2.25 or 2.5 grade 8 bolts if you’re running a thicker fairlead. Also, for the bolts you’re taking out for the factory block-off, don’t reuse the speed nuts. Go get five 8mmx1.25 flange nuts. You’ll thank me later.
Not even close was were the holes for the winch plate for the factory JL bumper. Did anyone even try this before it went into production? I’m in the process of trying to putting my own holes in but with my limited tools I’m probably going to huck this worthless piece of steel off a bridge. I do not plan to EVER purchase another one of Rock Hard’s products again. I’m adding a picture of how far off this thing is. Included is a picture of how far off the holes were off.

Rock Hard winch mount with flat tow set upMannix053 years ago
Would this winch mount work with the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms? I have the base plates installed and now want to mount a winch with the flat tow set up. If not is there a winch mount that would work?

A:
The Roadmaster base plate kit from your pictures looks like the 521453-5 and will more than likely not work with any of the available winch plates as they all have part of their structure that bolts to the inner portion of the frame rail where that base plate needs to mount. Roadmaster does have a different base plate, 521456-5, that mounts slightly different and may work. Though they don't state which winch plate is used, it is shown to work with the steel bumper that has a Warn VR10-s installed.
