Skid Plate for steel bumper retrofit
    Dangerous Dave 3 years ago
if you're a cheapskate like myself and you didn't buy the LED lights and steel bumper package for your JL, this is the plate you need and it comes with the brackets that get bolted to the horns on the front of the frame and all of the hardware. Yes, it's $105 more than the skid plate on it's own, but if your Jeep never had the steel bumper/plate on it before, you'll need this if you want the bumper to look right. Anyhow it was super easy to install, I had it on the Jeep and the box discarded before my wife noticed and could start asking questions about how much it cost.
    Mopar Skid Plate Front Bumper

    Very happy, good fit

I’d totally buy this plate again. I’ve seen reviews elsewhere complaining about the fit and I don’t see it. Only issue I had was the fair lead bolts were too short for the hawse fair lead I used. Other than that, everything lined up great and it’s a nice, 1/4 inch steel unit. I like how it bolts the fairlead section of the bumper and ties it into a structural unit, integrating the bumper, the plate and the frame horns. Tips:: get two 7/16x2.25 or 2.5 grade 8 bolts if you’re running a thicker fairlead. Also, for the bolts you’re taking out for the factory block-off, don’t reuse the speed nuts. Go get five 8mmx1.25 flange nuts. You’ll thank me later.
